Have we found the holy grail?

I know this might be a harsh kickstart, but trust me, I have a very good reason to do so. Hear me out.

Obesity in the so-called western world (or “First World”) has become a true hazard, an epidemic, an uncontrollable phenomenon in the past two-three decades. Excess death resulting from obesity and related conditions such as cardiovascular or circulatory problems, high blood pressure, type-2 diabetes have skyrocketed. Why? What should we blame? Or should we really blame it on something?

We have easy access to unlimited and affordable food. Too much food, actually, and most of that is ultra-processed, which is ultra-convenient, but as far from healthy as can be. And, in parallel, physical activity is practically gone from our everyday routine. The result? Half of the western population is fat, overweight, or clinically obese.

And that’s where it has become a business decades ago with all the miracle diets and exercise plans, all of which has proven to be either useless or, in the very best case, temporary in results. And every now and then some kind of medication (or rather misuse or abuse of medication) emerged as the once-and-for-all solution for obesity. Yet, all of these chemicals, mostly appetite-suppressants or industrial grade toxins like DNP have failed on the long run, and/or proven to be extremely hazardous.

People may be growing to understand that weight loss starts with a good diet and regular exercise. That is perfectly fine, but as it has been shown numerous times, such lifestyle change is insufficient by far. Absolutely needed, but on its own will not be enough.

And that is exactly where we and semaglutide come in the picture. Semaglutide is probably the most unique and revolutionary medication that has been developed in the last decade when it comes to weightloss. Originally developed for the treatment of type-2 diabetes, its features for losing weight have become very obvious almost immediately.

So, what is semaglutide?

Semaglutide belongs to a class of medications known as glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists, or GLP-1 RAs. It mimics the GLP-1 hormone, released in the gut in response to eating.

One role of GLP-1 is to prompt the body to produce more insulin, which reduces blood sugar (glucose). For that reason, health care providers have used semaglutide for more than 15 years to treat type-2 diabetes.

But GLP-1 in higher amounts also interacts with the parts of the brain that suppress your appetite and signal you to feel full. When used in conjunction with diet and exercise, it can cause significant weight loss — and a reduced risk of cancer, diabetes and heart disease — in people who are obese or overweight.

Is this the “Holy Grail?”

We have seen may “supplements” that have been effective to a certain degree if used with proper diet and exercise. And, as I have previously mentioned, please do take up healthy eating habits and regular exercise, as it is crucial for your health. But the fun part is that semaglutide does work without diet and exercise! Semaglutide does its job even under the harshest nutritional circumstances!

I will make it even more understandable: you do not have to be on a diet and/or exercise plan to lose weight with semaglutide! If this is the basic measure of a miracle, than yes, I can declare that the Holy Grail of weightloss is at our hand.
